Brand Integrity

As a designer, one of the primary challenges to meet is representing an ethos through architecture, materials, function, production and user experience. When working with an established brand, it is especially necessary to build up from the words of their concept, literally.

I designed a small “cabin” nestled among the columns at the IKEA Planning Studio in Manhattan to represent the IKEA brand. The cabin is resourceful, using the space within as well as the space between and around to complete all necessary functions of a home. The cabin is straight-forward and humble with clean lines and natural materials. The cabin is playful and functional, blurring the line between the two. The cabin is an advocate for a sustainable lifestyle, carrying a message of sustainability through materials and methods. The cabin is interactive, engaging the customer to experience the space and the sustainable, small space living solutions through digital messaging. The cabin is an architectural ambassador for IKEA.

“Design is the silent ambassador of your brand.”
